Muslimaat exists to empower Muslim women, girls and new Muslims through knowledge, faith and connection — so that every sister in Sheffield has a place to learn, grow and truly belong.
Empowering Muslim women & girls through faith and community
Muslimaat was founded to ensure every Muslim woman and girl in Sheffield has somewhere warm, safe and supportive to turn. We provide inspiring programmes, 1:1 drop-in sessions, Qur'an Tafseer, Tajweed classes, new Muslim mentorship and community events — because every sister deserves to feel at home in her faith and her community.

Our centre at Don Valley House is a dedicated, welcoming space for Muslim women and girls in Sheffield. Equipped with a library, meeting rooms, a learning space and a comfortable lounge — everything our community needs under one roof.
How Muslimaat began
From a small circle of sisters sharing tea and questions in 1996, to a thriving community supporting Muslim women and girls across Sheffield.
Muslimaat is founded and registered
In 1996, Muslimaat Association was formally founded and registered as an organisation in Sheffield. Born from a heartfelt desire to support Muslim women and girls, our founders established a safe, welcoming space rooted in faith and sisterhood.
From day one, the mission was clear — to ensure every Muslim woman in Sheffield had somewhere to turn for guidance, community and belonging.

Our first workshops and events
Word spread quickly. More sisters started reaching out — some brand new to Islam, others exploring the faith for the first time. We launched our first official prayer workshops and drop-in sessions across Sheffield.

Expanding our reach and impact
By 2015, Muslimaat had grown significantly — expanding its programmes, team and reach across Sheffield. With a dedicated space, a growing team of volunteers and an ever-increasing number of sisters coming through our doors, we were able to do more than ever before.
